Our U23s were involved in a 10-goal thriller this weekend as they beat Cople & Bedford SA 6-4 in the Beds County Cup. This follows their empathic 6-1 win against Lea Sports on Tuesday night in the East Beds Charity Cup.

Head Coach Nyasha Sagwete says:

“We rotated the squad quite a bit to keep things fresh and we were still confident of a positive result. We conceded an early goal from poor defending but managed to equalise within ten minutes.

They punished us within 30 seconds of the restart. We were still celebrating and a bit sloppy trying to win the ball back. We managed to get it back to 2-2 just before half time but then made it a difficult start for ourselves as Kurtis Alleyne picked up a second yellow card and was sent of minutes before the break.

At half time it was a chance for us to regroup, still trying to play our game and go for the win but again within 30 seconds of the restart we were 3-2 down. We quickly made some changes to the set up and personal on the pitch because we needed to be sure in possession and win the second balls.

From that point we took control of the game and went on to score 4 in a row to finish the game. It was a game we needed to do the basics well to come out with the result against a more experienced team in the County Cup.”

Goals came from Charisma Agyemang, Ethan Mosley, Ash Campbell, Ollie Benham and Kyle Jeffrey who scored twice.
