Match Preview: Wembley (H) – Cup
By Leon Waite – leonwaite98

United’s midweek encounter this week comes in the shape of Premier Division Cup clash with Wembley at Second Meadow- a little over two weeks since defeating their visitors 3-2 in the league at Vale Farm.

That was Jimmy Martin’s men last victory as successive losses to Leverstock Green and Hadley respectively followed to somewhat curtail the momentum gained in the preceding seven-match unbeaten run.

But perhaps the return of some cup football could reignite the spark in the team with FA Vase, Beds Senior Cup and League Challenge Trophy action also to come in October.

Interestingly, Wembley have experienced a bit of an upturn in form since losing to United back in September. That result left the Lions with a solitary point to show from their seven league matches but they secured a 2-1 win at Harpenden Town in their subsequent outing and proceeded to earn a 0-0 draw at Stotfold and Leighton Town also held them to a stalemate as it finished 1-1 at Vale Farm on Saturday.

United were narrow victors when the two sides met a fortnight ago and will need to be guarded against an improved Wembley as they seek improvements of their own come Tuesday, KO 7.45pm.
