Match Preview: Biggleswade FC (A) – League

The fixture list can throw up some intriguing games early on in a club’s schedule and with just four days into the new campaign Biggleswade FC meet Biggleswade United for the third time history.
United began life under new head coach Jimmy Martin in sensational style on Saturday as they dispatched of Cockfosters 5-1 at Second Meadow and their first away trip this year will prove to be their shortest as Biggleswade Town’s Langford Road stadium hosts ‘El Wadeico’ on Tuesday night.
The club founded from their current landlords’ successful U18s squad were promoted to the SSMFL Premier Division as champions in the debut season in senior football and adjusted to the higher level remarkably well- ultimately finishing in fifth place.
And similar to United, the Waders came from behind to pick up three points on opening day with Ryan Inskip bagging a brace as they saw off Wembley 2-1 at Vale Farm.
There was little between the sides in their previous two meetings with former United frontman Tom Cookman’s early strike cancelled out by Matt Cooper late on at Second Meadow in December. Cookman opened the scoring again in the reverse fixture, helping his team to a 2-1 victory.
The bragging rights remain with FC for now but United have an early opportunity to seize those and build on their positive start when ‘El Wadeico’ resumes at the Carlsberg Stadium on Tuesday night, KO 7.45pm.
