BUFC Academy Roundup
U7s played away to Broadhall Youth. Jimmy: ‘U7’s are passing the ball well but need to work on winning the ball back. Also, we were surprised by the effect of having a weekend without a game. Felt like they’d forgotten a bit of match play. Paul Dogan: ‘Tough game in horrible windy conditions today! I think the physio will be busy this afternoon, poorly knees, shoulders, ankle and face; bring on next weekend.’
U8s Reds played at home to Biggleswade Town. Charlie Black: ‘Good performance from the boys, great passing and moving football, lots of skill, need to work on getting our heads up earlier and finding good passes! Our movement off the ball was super today.’
U8s Yellows played away to Sporting Luton. Dogan French: ‘The 5 boys just run out of steam, hey ho, back to 2 full strength squads next week.’
U8s Blues played away to Stotfold. Fran Constancio: ‘Great improvement from last year on their performance.’
U11s Reds played at home to Bedwell Rangers Tigers. Simon Warwick: ‘In a hard fought game we created loads of chances just couldn’t finish them off- good performance over all.’
U11s Blues played at home to Buntingford Cougars. Pearse Hamilton: ‘Better side throughout but intensity dropped a little bit 2nd half and the boys didn’t pass the ball as well as in the 1st half. Should have put a few chances away but the positive to take from it is that the boys created plenty of chances.’
U13s lost 3-2 at home to Hitchin EJA. Matt Burgess: ‘2-0 down at HT. We rallied in a much improved 2nd half performance, despite having just 11 players. With a full squad, the outcome may have been different. Very pleased with the attitude of the players today.
U15s won 4-2 at home to Woburn. Darren: ‘A great result rewarded from changing a few boys positions. The boys showed great character on the pitch today and all worked hard as a team which reflected in our result.’
U16s won 9-2 away to Stotfold. Tony Deitsch: ‘No bearing on the league table but definitely an indicator of the level at which we can play. Excellent effort from all the boys.’
U18s home match with St Albans was postponed.
U15s and U16s Girls won 4-1 away to Flitwick. Philippe: ‘An improved performance from last week. Still lots to work on with respect for each other and their coaches high on the list.’
