BUFC Academy Roundup

U8s Templars played at home to Luton Allstars. Dogan French: “Struggled with a much more physical opponent today, boys lacked energy and motivation today in the first half. Then we sparked into life second half with some good passages of play. Hey ho roll on next week.”

U11s Blues played at home to Letchworth Garden City Eagles Grey. Pearse Hamilton: “Tough morning for the U11s Blues today. Playing against the wind as well as a good side in the first half made it very difficult for us and we struggled to get out of our own half. Letchworth pressed high up the pitch well. We changed the team around a little bit for the second half. Tough match for the boys, but pleased with how they were able to pinpoint what we did well and areas to improve themselves in our post-match debrief. Roll on next weekend!”

U11s Reds played away to Buntingford Cougars. Simon Warwick: “We totally dominated the first half. After halftime, we started well with a  high tempo and quick passing. Had to replace our goalkeeper with one of the smallest players on the pitch, who was willing to go in goal, and from that moment on we were under total pressure. I think our replacement goalkeeper had swallowed springs in his legs because in that second-half as he gave an amazing performance.”

U13s lost 3-1 at home to Crawley Green. Matt Burgess: “All over them for first half but could only score one goal but should have had four. Second half they used their superior strength to overpower us with the wind behind them. A really tough game for the boys today showing the extent of their power and physicality when some of their players were almost six foot tall and ours are under five foot.”

U16s Boys lost 6-1 at home to Stotfold. Tony Deitsch: “0-1 in 90 seconds so it was uphill before the game even really got started. Bullied them around and played the better football for the entire rest of the first half then conceded a soft second in injury time. Scored to get within one then let in a third. Missed a penalty that could’ve got us back in the game then the floodgates opened. Should never have gotten to 3-1 and even their coaches said the score didn’t reflect the game.”
