BUFC Academy Roundup

U7s played away to Biggleswade Town. Paul: “Typical after Christmas performance from the U7s this morning. Off the pace, forgot all of the things we have coached, but still lots to focus on when we get together for training. Hopefully, this morning’s game will blow away the cobwebs.”

U8s Templars played away to Think Sport Thunder. Dogan French: “Very close match, encouraging sign of give and goes across the park, created loads of chances but just couldn’t finish.

U11s Blues played at home to Melbourn Dynamos. Pearse Hamilton: “We borrowed two players from the Reds as their game was cancelled today. Thought it was going to be a difficult match after the first couple of minutes as we struggled to get out of our own half, however we soon got into the game and had them penned in their half for large periods. Rotated the players round a bit throughout the game with some in positions they hadn’t played before. Pleased but I know the boys can play even better than they did today, which is encouraging. Good first game back after Christmas.”

U13s lost 6-0 at home to Arlesey Town. Matt Burgess: “We only had ten players and Arlesey were good enough to lend us a player so we could play 11v11. Against the wind, we were down 0-4 at halftime. An improved 2nd half saw us create good chances but we had one cleared off and hit the crossbar. They scored two more at the end of the games when ours were dead on their feet. Very please with our fullback today. Had a lot to do but always tried to play out from the back.”

U15s lost 4-0 at home to Stony Stratford. Darren: “Against top of the league stony Stratford, we held our own and played really well in the first half and went in at halftime 1-0 down. Game of two halves as the boys lost concentration and conceded three quick goals which were hard for us to come back from. We did have a few chances but just couldn’t find the back of the net. Our last game was the end of November which hasn’t done us any favours. Looking forward to working with the squad in 2018.”

U18s won 2-1 at home to Biggleswade Town. Sam Goodman: “Won the pride of the town in a stereotypical derby at Second Meadow. A sending off, a dubious penalty decision not given, an own goal, strong tackles, it had it all…2-1 the final score. A great result to start off 2018. A hard fought victory from the players, some good passing and positional play but also still areas to work on. Onwards and upwards for everyone involved!”

U16s Girls lost 1-0 at home to Kempston Rovers Ladies. Fran Constancio: “We dominated from the beginning until the end, creating lot of chances in both halves but today the ball didnt want go in. Proud with their effort, a few things to talk with individuals because they can do better in some different actions and unhappy with the score as at least we deserved a draw. They only had two chances in the whole game. This break didn’t help the good momentum of the team.”
