I love Friday night football. Always have done, always will. I can’t think of a better way to start the weekend so I was really pleaed to find out that our extra preliminary first round FA Cup match was to be played tonight (Friday) at Potton United.
I would love to be able to play some of our league games, although when we tried to arrange some games for Friday evenings we were told that it wasn’t possible.
It was good to see last week at our three sided competition that we still have the core support of our loyal fans with us. Many thanks for your support; believe me when I say that it really does make a difference.
It was also encouraging to see that on the pitch we are still extremely difficult to break down although our ability to keep a clean sheet was also matched by our inability to score at the other end although this is a matter we are addressing and hope to have kind of solution in place by the time the league season begins. Watch this space.
Our aim this time around is to be in the shake up for promotion with perhaps five or six other teams in the league towards the latter part of the season. There will be no place to hide, our plan will be to be there or thereabouts at the business end of the season.
We have improved our squad and the players that have stayed with us are a year older, wiser and more experienced so hopes are high.
We are also delighted to welcome Albert Martinez our new fitness coach who has added a freshness and new angles to our routines while Stuart Bimson also continues with us alongside Cristian Colas our first team coach.
Off the pitch we are always looking to and working towards improving our facilities and our latest venture will hopefully be the creation of some kind of tea hut, providing of course we can raise enough money and gain the necessary permission and we also still have to find a home for more than 30 Hall of Fame stars who kindly gave their permission to be photographed holding up the club shirt.
But, trust me, bit by bit everything both on and off the pitch will be resolved, starting hopefully at Potton United tonight. (kick off 7.45)
See you there
