Hot on the heels of our Under 18 Youth side cup success it’s now the turn of our girls side to try to put some more silverware in the Biggleswade United trophy cabinet.

Next Friday (April 27) sees our Under 16 women’s side take on AFC Dunstable at Barton Rovers grounds in the final of the Bedfordshire Under 16 Girls Challenge Cup (ko 7.30pm).

Victory in this tournament would be a perfect way to finish off what has been a remarkable season for Biggleswade United’s ever growing girls section who back in February played a couple of friendly matches in Spain against girls teams from Valencia FC and UCD Levante.

A trophy would also be a perfect springboard from which to launch our next campaign so the support of everyone at Barton Rovers would be most welcome.

Although we have one just one home first team fixture left to play we have also been given the honour of hosting two upcoming finals starting with the Bedfordshire Women’s County Cup Final on Sunday April 29 between Bedford Town and Luton Town and the North Beds Charity Cup final between Potton United and Bedford on Friday May 4 (ko 7.45pm).

Before that, of course, we have our annual end of season awards night that will see individual trophies handed to the players of the year from our first team and Under 23 development side.

Proceedings which will include a barbecue  get underway at around 7.30 after our last home league match of the season against Cockfosters and everyone is welcome to come and join in the fun.

And then finally to round the season off we have a fun day at Second Meadow on Sunday May 6 stating at midday and including a Parents v Coaches game and of course, once again, the obligatory barbecue.

But first things first and we’ve still got some football to play starting tomorrow (Sat ko 3pm) with a trip to an Oxhey Jets side who will be desperate for a winning run to take them out of the relegation place they currently occupy.

See you there
